GABE BLOODWORTH

A second generation glass blower from Springfield, Missouri, Gabe began blowing
glass at the age of 15, in 1999 as an apprentice with his father, Terry Bloodworth.
Terry has over 33 years of glass blowing experience. Terry & Gabe own and operate
Springfield Hot Glass Studio, in Springfield, Missouri. Gabe's glassmaking skills
include glassblowing, lampworking, glass fusing, and neon.

Gabe enjoys making very traditional vessels, as well as contemporary, functional art.
Gabe focuses on building his technical skills while pushing his abilities. He is always
looking for new and challenging pieces to make. Gabe's love of contemporary forms
and abstract color schemes are evident in his work. He love to discuss glass and share
his passion for glass making with everyone. Gabe is an excellent teacher as well as
artist. Gabe pours a great deal of love and passion into his glass and it holds a place
of great importance in his life.

SAM DAVISSON

Sam is from Sedalia, Missouri. He has been a glass craftsman for more than 20 years, traveling to art shows throughout the Midwest, including Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO. “I look at glassblowing as a performing art rather than a fine art,” he says, “I might not be the best, but I put on one of the best shows."

Although he is a seasoned glassblower now, Sam wasn’t always an artisan. In fact, he started out by working at a seed company in Greenfield. Soon thereafter, he went to work at Wal-Mart as a sales associate for nine years. While still an employee at Wal-Mart, Sam helped with a stained glass business. During that time, he learned to use a torch and Pyrex rod for lamp working. Several years later, he learned to make colorful marbles and figurines by using soft glass torch methods. This type of work led to collaboration with two glassblowers from Hannibal, who taught him the craft.

Through the years, Sam has won multiple awards, including the Best of Missouri Hands’ Juried Artist Award and Silver Dollar City’s Newcomer Award.

Sam is not blowing glass here right now, he is recovering from shoulder surgery, but we have some of his pieces.
